Ostioneria Bahia – Orange

Around the corner from our house is Ostioneria Bahia in Orange. I’ve had lunch and dinner there a couple of times throughout the years, but I never realized they served breakfast till last week when I was hunting for some good Mexican Breakfast to devour before going back home to do yard work. Ostiones is the Spanish word for oysters, which if you know me well might steer me away from this restaurant, since I have a slight allergic reaction to some types of shellfish from time to time, but don’t worry trusty internet crowd I stood tall and faced my fears head on. Actually I didn’t face my fear since I didn’t order shellfish, but you never know what is going on in the back of a restaurant.

Being that this is a Mexican restaurant and that I have become a connoisseur on Chilaquiles, I thought it was only right to check them out. Bahia has a couple different offerings of the wonderful Mexican breakfast of Chilaquiles, you can order it with red or green sauce, with eggs, and with carne asada. I went ahead and got the red sauce Chilaquiles with 2 eggs over medium. Served along with the Chilaquiles are refried beans, rice, and a roasted green chile.

These Chilaquiles are a little more saucy tasting than some of the others I have had around Orange and are topped with cotija cheese and crema. I’d put them very middle of the pack when comparing them to what I have had int he past. The four pieces of the meal do mix well together and I highly suggest to get a taste of each on your fork to fully appreciate the meal.
