Garlic Jo’s – Newport Beach

img_0495-1We went to Garlic Jo’s in Newport Beach two weeks ago on a Saturday.  I honestly wasn’t that blown away by their use of garlic.  Maybe it’s because we already use a lot of garlic at home when we cook, but I was expecting more.

img_0500-1Mrs. DanGarion had the Original Garlic Chicken ($14.95), I liked it and finished half of it for her, it was the only thing we had bursting with garlic!

I had the Garlic Beef Fried Rice ($10.95) and it was just sort of average, plus for being what I observed as an entree it didn’t really seem like much.  Would be better if you could order it as a side for a “real entree.img_0502-1

Lastly we had the Garlic Ice Cream which was loaded with some the thickest whipped cream I can remember, but really didn’t have much “homemade” garlic taste, the vanilla overpowered any garlic that happened to be in it.

Service was really good, the waiter was nice.

This is one of my all time favorite restaurants…..You missed the best item on the menu! The shrimp and mayo pizza! Read my review and then go back. :-)

@Griffin: Yeah I read your review after our visit. We’ll probably try it again some time in the future. We were actually on our way to Mama D’s but we decided to try Garlic Jo’s since I had never been there before.
