Taco Adobe Carnitas

Taco Adobe Carnitas

Up until recently I had never been to Taco Adobe in Orange, even though many of my foodie friends have raved about it (check out OC Mexican Restaurants review),  .  I had however ate at the previous restaurant that used to be housed here on Lemon by the name of Costa Azul.  For those that are wondering there is some relation to the Taco Adobe in Santa Ana, but I’m not sure what the exact connection is today.  I have had lunch at the Santa Ana site back in 2008.  We decided to catch an early dinner after hitting the Orange Farmers Market one Thursday in May, so we could relax at home the rest of the night.

Taco Adobe Chicken Enchiladas

Mrs. DanGarion ordered the Chicken Enchiladas, but substituted red sauce on it instead of green sauce.  She isn’t a fan of salsa verde.  She really enjoyed the enchiladas and said she would have them again.  I had a taste and thought they were very good.  I had the carnitas plate, which is my typical go to meal when I want to try a new Mexican place.  The carnitas came out steaming and juicy and really hit my cravings.  The chips and salsa were delicious as well.  We both agreed that our beans and rice (mine traditional and her’s black beans with white rice) tasted good and fresh.  Overall it was a really solid meal and we would definitely come back and try some more of their delicious grub.

Service was nice and attentive.  It was warm that evening and not having air conditioning inside made it seem stuffy, so we ate outside, so be ready to possibly with that if you like nice cool air conditioning air.

Visit on 05/13/10 in the early evening.

Until a couple of months ago, I lived five minutes' walking distance from Adobe. I cannot well-enough express my love for this place. Great (tiny) atmosphere, great service, superior food. Love, love, love.

yar, is good, right? FYI – the owners of the original taco adobe in santana opened the location in orange, THEN sold the santana location. so currently there is no official connection.

I love, love, love this place. I live just around the corner and try to go here as often as I can. The thing I like is that the food is not greasy like normal Mexican food is. I think that's because it is a southwest mex restaurant. The chips and salsa are great. I usually get the blackened chicken tacos. Yummy!

Skip the chicken and beef – try any of their seafood dishes instead. The Pescado Guaymas is delicious!

I really want to go there again soon, I don't get much Mexican food as of late, because the wifey hasn't really wanted it much, but it's my favorite type of food! :(

Ah! Thanks for the clarification on that, I know I had heard that before but I had forgot! :)

Yeah it's just down the street from our house, so it's on my list of places to come back to now!

Totally a fan of Taco Adobe's salmon and shrimp (basically any seafood) tacos. Their corn tortillas are the only ones I'm able to devour without feeling too full afterward — they taste light and fresh. Also, if you like heat, ask for their habanero sauce — it's homemade and bright orange and served in a little bottle.. love that stuff!

LOVE Taco Adobe. You make me want to hightail it down for the carnitas. I wrote a post on it called Ask Galley Girl and friends STILL thank me for recommending it. Love the chipotle pasta and don't forget the cold Quilmes: Argentina's answer to Miller Lite!
