Taco Mesa serves some of the best food you are going to find in all of Orange County. They serve “healthy” Mexican food that borders on Tex-Mex but is pretty authentic. So far I have yet to try something that I haven’t liked. Try the Blackened Chicken Burrito and get a side of vegetarian rice, you will not be disappointed. They have a couple daily specials that you can’t get all the time. All the food is fresh and made to order. They also have a fresh salsa bar and can make fresh guacamole to order.
Don’t expect a typical “sit down” restaurant feel, think more like a Rubios/Baja Fresh.
The employees are very nice and have never had any problems with special requests.
Update 12/2006 – We love going here at least once a month. So much good food. I recommend getting the blackened chicken tacos, but you can’t go wrong with anything here!

we had dinner last night at Taco Mesa in Costa Mesa, across from the DMV. Is that one related to the Orange one?

Yes it's the same owners. Plus Taco Rosa at the Tustin/Irvine Marketplace is their upscale restaurant.
