Craft Beer Tasteful and Good
Americans like their beer. Americans like to party. The reasons why Americans like beer are multi-faceted and complex. Or they can be made those things. Really, it boils down to a few simple ingredients that when put together can have a demonstrable effect on mood, disposition, and general well-being. The reason people like beer is the alcohol.
Alcohol, as a substance, has been around for at least two millennia. It’s cited in the book of Solomon, where individuals are cautioned not to drink to excess, lest they fall prey to loose women and loose their sense of caution. Individuals who drink to excess, Solomon warns, are prone to madness and erratic behavior.
Today, alcohol is consumed more safely among many people within the population. There are warnings following every commercial: Please drink responsibly. Many people who drink alcohol do so with the idea that it is temporary. Their is a temporary mellowing out, a temporary feeling of goodness, and temporary feeling of relaxation.
There are those, of course, who do not drink responsibly. They are seen in rehabilitation centers and they are seen in those short newspapers where people are highlighted for drinking and driving crimes. Their mugshots are posted. These are significant issues within the United States. 30,000 people die in alcohol related accidents each year.
But for those who do enjoy drinking and enjoy drinking responsibly, there are many options for alcohol intake. Generally, they are divided into three categories: wine, spirits, and beer. Today, the focus of this article is on beer. The other two have more alcohol content and have a level of sophistication. Beer is just for good ole fun.
There are some statistics surrounding alcohol that are worth noting. They are:
- The Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported that only 21.7% of adults are getting the recommended amount of aerobic and muscle-strengthening exercise.
- A 2001 study published by the National Institutes of Health found that people who qualified as moderate drinkers (consuming one drink per day) were twice as likely to exercise as people who don?t drink at all.
And there are some statistics surrounding the beer market.
- Small and independent craft brewers now represent 12 percent market share of the overall beer industry.
- In 2015 the number of operating breweries in the U.S. grew 15%, totaling 4,269 breweries, which is the most at any time in American history.
- U.S. consumers 21 years and older consumed 27.5 gallons of beer and cider per person during 2015.
- According to a 2016 Gallup poll, 43% of legal drinkers prefer beer over wine and spirits.
In fact, the U.S. craft beer market is worth $23.5 billion. Craft beer has represented a shift in recent years in the beer market. For a very long time, it was dominated by a few beer companies that produced basic generic beer. This beer was generally lacking taste, had a lower alcohol content, and was mass produced.
The craft beer market operates differently. Instead of beer being mass produced, there is a focus on local markets and regional markets. Instead of beers lack taste, craft breweries tool their beers to have a unique taste and flavor. This involves changing the amount of hops and wheat used to make the beer.
They are often known as IPAs. These signify that they are a craft brew and that they have the taste and flavor that the mass produced beers lack. Like the other beer companies and mass producing beer companies, the craft breweries need a way to get their beer to their customers. And their customers may be bars as well as people.
A simple way to get a craft brew is to go to the gas station. Many gas stations contain craft brews that are local. Another way to get a craft brew is to go to the brewery itself. A tour of the brewery often results in a craft beer at the end.
Another way breweries distribute craft beers is through the growler. The growler is a small or medium sized portable container that contains beer. It can have many attributes, including the vacuum growler, unique growlers, steel growlers, personalized growler, and stainless growler.
A growler tap is for businesses. A bar might use a growler tap. A growler tap puts beer through a tube. A growler tap delivers that beer to a tap.
